posted on 12.18.14

The MTI Board of Trustees and Program Committee invite you to SAVE THE DATE for the 2015  Spring Meeting in Orlando, Florida at the beautiful  Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort. The Yacht and Beach Club puts you minutes away from every major theme park and attraction in Central Florida.

Meeting registration is being finalized and will be available online shortly after January 1. Printed brochures and registration will be mailed out in mid January.  The Program Committee has put together another great schedule of speakers that focus on the future of manufacturing in North America, the economy, and how to motivate and tap into the talents of the younger generation of workers and customers.  The featured keynote is Mike Mullane, one of the first astronauts to fly in the Space Shuttle Discovery.  Mike is going to share amazing stories about space flight and answer everyone’s questions on what it’s like the last 10-seconds before lift off, how do you prepare to work in space, and how you eat, sleep, and drink in space.

The Spring Meeting will be the perfect blend of education, networking, and relaxation to let you refresh, refuel and re-energize your passion and perspective in your business.

It is important to book your room as soon as possible, especially if you plan to stay before or after our meeting. Our group rate of $179 is available 3-days before and after the meeting, based upon availability.  Disney resorts fill up pretty fast and we expect our room block to fill up well before the cut-off date. The following is the hotel information as well as the schedule for you to plan your arrival and departure.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact the MTI office at 904-249-0448 or info@heattreat.net.

8:00 am – 9:00 am:   What Manufacturing Sectors Will Be The Future Winners

Senior economist, Cliff Waldman from the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, will report on the forecasts for the top industries serviced by MTI members. During this informative session, you will hear the good, bad and ugly in aerospace, automotive, housing, appliances, military, and numerous other key industry sectors.

Saturday, April 11  (SPOUSES AND GUESTS INVITED TO THESE SESSIONS)

8:00 am – 9:00 am:    How to Understand and Connect With Generation Y & Z

This session will help you understand the myths and truths behind generational differences. It’s not enough to just tell someone of another generation, “just do it.”   Managers need to understand who their employees really are and how to empower their skills to be innovative. Jeanna Mastrodicasa, Dean of Generational Studies at the University of Florida, will help you bridge the gap of understanding about how to tap into the next generation for everything.

9:00 am – 10:00 am:  You Want Me to Do What and When and Dress How?

Moderated by Jeanna, two 20 year olds, late 30 year olds and 55+ year olds will openly discuss a variety of topics put forth by the audience. We all hear how generations think differently, now you will see it in an open format where members will experience the varying views held by different generations…this should be quite an eye opener on all sides.

10:15 am – 11:30 am:  The Lighter Side of Space Flight

Ever imagine what it was like to be sitting in the cockpit of a rocket as the countdown begins… 10, 9, 8, 7, 6… it must be a pretty exhilarating feeling. Mike Mullane was one of the first astronauts on Space Shuttle Discovery. In Mike’s session, he will share an amazing and funny journey of spaceflight. Using spectacular video and slides he will answer everyone’s space questions: What does a shuttle launch feel like?…How does an astronaut deal with the incredible fear of launch?… How do you sleep, bathe, eat, drink, etc.?

6:30 pm – 11:00 pm:   Closing Night Reception, Dinner and Entertainment

After enjoying two days of educational sessions and seeing Orlando, enjoy dinner followed by the MTI Silent Party. You don’t want to miss it – it is the perfect blend of entertainment for those who want to network and those who want to dance! Bring your camera’s because pictures are a must!
