The Heritage Award is awarded to the individual who has one or more notable accomplishments within the heat treating industry over their lifetime. As Jim Roberts described Gary Huss during the ceremony, you could quickly see he was deserving of the award. Gary’s service to the industry includes:

Being very active in the Midwest Chapter and always bringing numerous people from his three plants to attend the local meetings. At the local level, Gary served as MTI’s Program Chair as well as Chapter Chair from 1989 to 1993.

Served his first term on the MTI Board from 1993 to 1999. He served a second term from 2007 to 2009 where he was elected as President Elect in 2007.

He went on to serve as President in 2008. Served on National Association of Manufacturers’ Board on behalf of MTI for over 10 years from 1999 to 2011.  Gary made many trips to Washington DC to testify before numerous congressional committees on labor, energy, taxes, and other legislation that impacts MTI members.

Gary was chair of MTI’s Strategic Planning Committee in 2007 that put some action behind the MTI strategic plan that has lead to MTI’s incredible growth the last 8 years. During Gary’s Presidency in 2008, MTI’s Academy went from 5 courses to over 40 during his year as President and FNA 2008 had a record # of booths, attendees and revenues.

Gary’s strength as a leader helped position MTI to weather the storm of the 2009 and 2010 economic downturn.

MTI would like to Thank all the members who came out and supported the chapter meeting and CONGRATULATIONS to Gary Huss for being honored with the Heritage Award.
