MTI Educational Foundation Vision

The vision of the MTI Foundation is, through consistent analysis by the Foundation Board, to provide funding for programs and events that help further the advancement of:

Cutting edge technology and content to provide education and training world wide in the heat treat community.

Young people entering the heat treat industry.

Programs, services, and initiatives offered by the Metal Treating Institute.

Developing a skilled workforce.

Collaboration with other organizations to enhance the awareness within the college, university, and vocational/technical schools of the career opportunities and advancements that exist in the heat treating industry.

Foundation Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MTI Educational Foundation a Corporation?

Yes, the MTI Educational Foundation is a Florida non-profit corporation filed with the Internal Revenue Service. The Foundation is governed by a six (6) member Board of Trustees from the Metal Treating Institute under an approved set of Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws.

Are my contributions tax deductible?

Yes, the MTI Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization operating under the rules and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service making 100% of your donations tax deductible.

To what type of projects can I donate?

Option 1 Donate to the Industry Innovation Fund.  These donations go toward current projects being funded in the areas of education and training.

Option 2 Donate toward the MTI Endowment Fund. The MTI Endowment Fund is made up of gifts and bequests that are subject to a requirement that the principal be maintained intact and invested to create a source of income for MTI’s current projects.  Donors may require that the principal remain intact in perpetuity, or for a defined period of time.  The endowment fund will make a contribution of up to 5% of its assets each year to help fund current MTI Educational Foundation projects.

How are the funds invested and who is in charge of managing those funds?

The funds of the MTI Educational Foundation are managed through an investment policy approved by the Foundation Board of Trustees in consultation with MTI’s Endorsed Financial Services Consultant.

How are decisions made to fund projects?

The Foundation requires any organization to make a full proposal and request in writing outlining its mission, goal, operations of its project, and the measurement used to determine success.  Foundation Trustees will consider any open requests for funding at their regularly scheduled meetings.
